Saida Mirziyoyeva, assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, met with Jonathan Henick, the United States ambassador to Uzbekistan, on August 31.

During the conversation, opinions were exchanged on current issues of Uzbekistan-US cooperation, prospects for further expansion of mutual relations.

Also, issues related to the upcoming visit of the Uzbek delegation to the USA in September of this year were discussed.

Jonathan Henick confirmed that the United States is committed to the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Uzbekistan.

"The American side expressed its mutual interest in supporting the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan, deepening relations in various fields such as economy, education, healthcare, and confirmed the commitment of the USA to the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country," Saida Mirziyoyeva wrote.

It should be recalled that on August 18, US President Joe Biden sent a letter to the President of Uzbekistan, inviting Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the summit of Central Asian and US heads of state (CA5+1) to be held within the framework of the UN General Assembly in New York.

In the letter, Joe Biden thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan, and also noted that the cooperation between the countries has reached a new level in recent years.

At the same time, the US president mentioned Saida Mirziyoyeva in his letter and appreciated her efforts to prevent gender-based violence.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev made his first visit to the USA as head of state in May 2018 and held talks with Donald Trump.

The summit of the heads of state of Central Asia and the USA (CA5+1) is expected to be held on September 19-20.
