Statistics Agency names most and least populated regions
The Statistics Agency has provided information on the number of permanent residents by region.

As of July 1, 2023, the most populated region in Uzbekistan is the Samarkand region (4 million 159 thousand people).
According to the Statistics Agency, Fergana (4 million 15 thousand people), Kashkadarya (3 million 515 thousand people), Andijan (3 million 354 thousand people) and Namangan (3 million 28 thousand people) regions are in the next places.
The region with the least number of permanent residents is the Syrdarya region, where 905 thousand people live.
Navoi (1 million 65 thousand people), Jizzakh (1 million 491 thousand people), Khorezm (1 million 971 thousand people) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (1 million 987 thousand people) are also among the least populated areas.
