The court verdict against the 21-year-old student, J.U., who was sentenced to 3 years in prison for posting a banned post on social networks, was left unchanged, the Press Service of the Supreme Court reported.

On June 8 of this year, based on the appeals of the defenders of the accused young man, the open trial of the criminal case in the appellate procedure began.

This criminal case was considered under the chairmanship of judge S. Ashirmatov of the judicial panel for criminal cases of the Tashkent regional court and in the composition of the court consisting of judges Kh. Berdiklichev and Kh. Usmanov.

According to today’s decision of the appellate court of the Tashkent regional court, the judgment of the first instance court against J.U. was left unchanged, and the appeals were left unsatisfied.

“It is informed that a cassation appeal or a protest can be filed against this ruling to the Supreme Court’s Criminal Trial Panel,” the report reads.

It should be recalled that the imprisonment of this student for spreading a prohibited nasheed caused a lot of discussion. The young man’s mother appealed, saying that her son was unjustly imprisoned.
