On July 14, at the joint meeting of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate of Oliy Majlis, the elected President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took a solemn oath and took office. After that, the head of state gave a speech at the joint meeting.
"At the election meetings, we will carry out the tasks set by you and the general public to preserve our national identity and noble values, to develop the spheres of culture, spirituality and enlightenment, and to educate the young generation in the spirit of love and loyalty to the Motherland.
Among all political rights, guarantees of freedom of conscience and belief are provided unconditionally in Uzbekistan. We consistently pursue the policy of democracy and openness, we guarantee the activity of constructive opposition, freedom of speech and the press, and the rights of citizens to receive, use and disseminate information.
Citizens of Uzbekistan are protected by our laws, regardless of the country or region of the world. We will further strengthen relations with our compatriots abroad," President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
For information, at the end of 2019, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the need to create conditions for the emergence of political opposition in the country, for people to know all their problems.
