According to the regional administration of Namangan, scientists have found rare coins which are about 1200-1500 years old and are very well preserved. Among the findings, there are Bactrian silver coins from 475-600 BC.
It is noted that in Central Asia the first silver coins were issued in the 3rd century BC. On the obverse is an image of kings, on the back - images of various animals or the names of kings.
Silver coins from the Karakhanid period, said to be from the 9th century, have Arabic inscriptions.
Also, Arabic letters are written on the obverse of some of the discovered coins, and Chinese characters are inscribed on the reverse.
Currently, scientists are studying the images of coins, inscriptions, their weight, what metal they are made of, the level of circulation and the history of minting.
