On May 26, a meeting was held with the heads of ministries and agencies on the reliable provision of human safety on highways in accordance with the President’s decision in the Senate Committee on Defense and Security Issues.
It is noted that in 2022, 9,902 traffic accidents occurred, in which 9,606 citizens were injured and 2,356 citizens died. During 4 months of 2023, 499 citizens lost their lives in 2,144 traffic accidents.
Implementation of some tasks provided for in the national program was not provided on time. In particular, 26 tasks were not completed within the specified period.
Also, 5 assignments due by the end of the 1st quarter of this year have not been completed.
In particular, in Andijan, Fergana, Bukhara, Navoi regions, tasks such as installing photo and video devices (cameras) recording violations, integrating them into regional and national monitoring centers, organizing multi-story or underground parking lots and automated roadside paid parking lots around large markets have not been implemented.
During the analysis, it was found that a number of law violations are still allowed in the construction, reconstruction and maintenance of highways.
Based on the above, the Committee made a number of proposals to eliminate the shortcomings.
In this regard, the issue of evaluating the activities of the officials of the local state authorities, who allow laziness, will be considered. Monthly regional commissions analyze the state of roads and existing infrastructure, accident sites, violations and critically study the activities of the heads of agencies responsible for traffic safety, transport and roads.
According to the results of the discussion, the appropriate decision of the Committee was adopted.
