On May 25, Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the 30th meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council through videoconferencing. Since Uzbekistan received observer status in this organization in 2020, the President has been constantly participating in its summits.
The President of Uzbekistan gave a speech about the measures that are important to implement within the framework of EEC.
“Uzbekistan, as an observer state at the EEC, continues its active participation in multilateral events and projects aimed at developing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the Union,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that global risks, serious disruptions in transport and logistics chains, food shortages and threats to energy security and other problems are intensifying, which require further coordination of close cooperation to solve the first tasks of sustainable socio-economic development of our countries.
“I hope that this summit will provide an opportunity to determine the priorities of our practical cooperation and to regularly coordinate our joint actions.
Firstly. Uzbekistan is ready to continue joint work on simplifying trade procedures and creating necessary conditions to radically increase the volume of trade between our countries.
We are also continuing work on the development of mutual settlements in national currencies.
Secondly. The integration of electronic platforms and online systems for customs administration, sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary control, as well as certification of the origin of goods, in our opinion, will serve to expand economic cooperation and business contacts.
We are ready to hold detailed consultations at the expert level to develop mechanisms for implementing this initiative.
Thirdly. We believe that the adoption of joint measures to deepen industrial cooperation and localization is an important factor in the creation of new jobs and the formation of industrial hubs in the Eurasian space.
We are interested in participating in multilateral programs aimed at financial support for the implementation of cooperation projects.
Fourthly. Cooperation in the field of transport and transit is a strategic direction in our partnership. In the current environment, it is important to strengthen our joint work on the formation of alternative transport corridors and create sustainable logistics chains.
We support the development of North-South international corridors and other highways connecting China with the countries of our region, the Middle East and South Asia.
Moreover, we support close coordination in matters of tariff policy.
Fifth. We believe that it is important to expand cooperation in the field of food safety.
From this point of view, it is important to actively replace the import of agricultural and food products with products produced in our countries, to encourage the development of cooperative relations and comprehensively support the activities of agribusiness representatives of our countries.
For these purposes, we propose to hold an Agricultural Forum in the format of "EOII plus" with the participation of ministers of agriculture, leading producers and importers of food products in October of this year.
Sixth. Uzbekistan is also interested in wider cooperation in the training of highly qualified specialists, establishment of partnership relations between higher educational institutions and professional education centers, and participation in joint projects to support scientific research.
“We believe that it is necessary to develop a “roadmap” for the joint training of personnel in high demand in engineering and technical specialties,” the President said.
At the end of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked his colleagues for supporting Uzbekistan’s participation in programs and projects of multilateral partnership within the framework of EEC.
“I believe that the results of today’s meeting will serve to develop new directions, forms and mechanisms of mutually beneficial cooperation for the sustainable development and prosperity of our countries,” the President concluded.
