President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to China began on May 18 with talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting took place at the residence of “Shaanxi” in Xi’an, with the participation of the delegations of the two countries.
Xi Jinping congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the success of the constitutional referendum and wished him success in the upcoming presidential election. In turn, Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the Chinese leader on the successful completion of important political events and his re-election to high state positions.
Issues that are relevant in the new era of comprehensive strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and China were discussed.
It was noted that the agreements reached are being consistently implemented, mutual relations at all levels have intensified, political dialogue is strengthening, and the parties are supporting each other on important issues.
Special attention was paid to effective exchange of experience and practical measures in the implementation of socially significant projects in the fields of poverty reduction, including agriculture, land use, small and medium-sized businesses, infrastructure modernization, improving the quality of medical services and professional education.
Following the business forum, agreements on the implementation of prospective projects worth $25 billion were signed and agreements were reached.
The focus is on the implementation of the investment-technological cooperation program for the development of alternative energy, consisting of projects on the construction of solar, wind and water power plants, the production of solar panels, electrical equipment, transformers, batteries, the digitalization of management processes and the training of specialists.
Expanding cooperation in the field of production of new-generation cars - the possibility of launching modern factories for the assembly of electric and hybrid vehicles were discussed.
In addition, it was noted that our countries are interested in deepening and expanding cooperation in the production of plastics, chemical products, metal products, food, construction materials, ready-made textile products, and the creation of a biotechnology cluster.
Joint measures were determined to realize the cooperation potential of the regions of the two countries, including turning the Syrdarya region into an "advanced technology region".
Taking into account the resumption of active dialogue and air travel, the issue of holding the first forum of the cities and regions of the two countries in Uzbekistan this year will be studied.
In the following years, the target indicators and composition of goods were set to increase the mutual trade, which doubled.
The importance of starting practical work on the construction of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway as soon as possible was noted.
While discussing the humanitarian sphere, a unanimous opinion was expressed about the need to activate cooperation in education and tourism, to hold mutual culture, art and film days, to implement programs related to traditional medicine, treatment of eye and other types of diseases, production of vaccines and pharmaceutical products.
Opinions were also exchanged on regional agenda and topical issues of international politics.
In general, the meeting was held in the spirit of trust, openness and friendship. The leader of Uzbekistan invited the Chinese leader to visit our country. The offer was gratefully accepted.
