Ilham Aliyev thanked the delegation led by Tanzila Narbayeva for participating in the extraordinary meeting of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great son of the Azerbaijani people, outstanding statesman and public figure Heydar Aliyev, and for showing high respect to the memory of the national leader of this country, the Senate press service reported.

During the meeting, Ilham Aliyev noted that today relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have been raised to the level of strategic partnership. He stressed that mutual trusting and fraternal relations have been established between the heads of state, an effective mechanism for exchanging visits at the highest level has been created.

In turn, Tanzila Narbayeva stressed that the inter-parliamentary dialogue has become an important component of bilateral cooperation, the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are making every effort and opportunity of inter-parliamentary relations to further strengthen the centuries-old ties of friendship between our peoples, deepen mutually beneficial partnership in all priority areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

During the conversation, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan through an inter-parliamentary dialogue between the two countries were also discussed, views were exchanged on various areas of cooperation, including the implementation of specific projects in engineering, agriculture, textile industry, energy, investment and other areas.

Following the meeting, a proposal was put forward to organize a special forum that would help unite the youth of the two states.
