“Companies in the gas and energy market of Uzbekistan should be accountable before the parliament” – Bobur Bekmurodov
The Parliament of Uzbekistan should take part in making decisions on attracting foreign companies to work in the country’s gas and energy market, Bobur Bekmurodov, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber, says. According to him, this “prevents any possible effects”.

Companies operating in the gas and energy production market must be accountable before the parliament. Bobur Bekmurodov, the chairman of the “Yuksalish” nationwide movement, deputy of the Oliy Majlis, informed about this.
“Parliament should take responsibility for this. Companies operating in the gas and energy production market must be accountable before the Parliament. The fact that the Parliament is also responsible for attracting foreign companies to the mines prevents any possible effects. It is necessary to establish this by law,” Bobur Bekmurodov says.
He reacted to the discussion about the alleged transfer of gas fields to other state interests, which is being discussed these days.
“First of all, the inquiry is manipulative and provocative. The policy of Uzbekistan is conducted on the basis of independent and national interests. This is also evident in our country’s approach to the ongoing global political processes. The influential political leaders of the world also recognize the independent domestic and foreign policy of our country.
Secondly, in his Address, the President firmly stated the position of the people on the issue of gas contracts. All licenses issued prior to gas production will be re-examined, subject to criteria of national interest.
Thirdly, the Parliament should take responsibility in this regard. Companies operating in the gas and energy production market must be accountable before the Parliament. The fact that the Parliament is also responsible for attracting foreign companies to the mines prevents any possible effects. It is necessary to determine this by law.
Finally, it is right for the public to ask questions to the official authorities, but it should not fall under the vibration of information attacks,” the chairman of the “Yuksalish” nationwide movement said.
It is noted that the democratic reforms started in Uzbekistan, the course of economic modernization, and the formation of society’s immunity to manipulations are an objective necessity.
Earlier, Uzbekneftegaz JSC commented on the large oil and gas orders given to ERIELL and Enter Engineering companies.
In the inquiry published by “Ozodlik” radio, it was noted that 35 billion soums were “granted” to these two companies in 5 years. According to officials, “half of this amount is in the air, funds without a foundation”.
It was also reported that “not a single dollar has been spent from the budget” for these projects.
