A 12-year-old girl who went missing in the Yangihayot district of Tashkent was found dead 20 meters from her house. The incident happened on January 31.
Surveillance cameras installed on the territory of private enterprises near the school recorded that the girl went home after the class hour, but she did not make it home.
“Yesterday evening, messages began circulating in Telegram groups that a 12-year-old girl went missing in the Yangihayot district and was being searched for by volunteers, residents of the neighborhood, and internal affairs officers.
Everyone prayed that she would be found safe and sound but unfortunately, she was found dead at around 2:30 am near the house where she lived,” writes blogger Shahnoza Soatova.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the girl was killed by a 29-year-old man, who sexually assaulted her. Reportedly, he worked as a hired worker in the house of the deceased in the summer of 2022.
The district prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case under Article 97 of the Criminal Code. The man is detained.
“In order to prevent cases of obstructing the determination of the truth in this case, information and other details that degrade the honor and dignity of citizens will not be disclosed,” the official statement said.
