During Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan, a protocol was exchanged on amendments to the agreement on mutual visits of citizens signed by the governments of the two countries on October 3, 2006, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

According to it, now all citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to enter Kyrgyzstan, as well as citizens of Kyrgyzstan, with an ID card (previously it was possible only with an international passport).

Information about the entry and exit of citizens from the border is recorded electronically, there is no need to stamp the passport.

It is noted that this ease applies to crossing the border by any means of transport (plane, train, car, bus, etc.).

This procedure will enter into force after the signed documents are duly approved by both countries. It is said to take about 1-2 months.

This procedure will be a great relief for compatriots in the exclave regions of Uzbekistan, such as Sokh, Shakhimardan, and Chongara, and will put an end to excessive bureaucracy in their border crossings.

It should be recalled that until today, the procedure of mutual travel through ID card has not been established with any country. Kyrgyzstan has become the first.
