During the opening ceremony of the Agricultural Product Development Fund, Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan in the interim Taliban government, called on Uzbekistan to supply electricity to his country in the volumes that were agreed upon in the contract concluded between them.
“Uzbekistan cut off electricity supplies, now people are facing problems. Neighbors and friends should help each other in difficult moments,” Muttaqi said.
The Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan noted that the Uzbek authorities must fulfill their promise and provide Afghanistan with electricity in accordance with the signed contract.
On January 13, the Afghan energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) announced the suspension of electricity supply from Uzbekistan due to technical problems.
Earlier, the parties signed a contract on the supply of electricity to Afghanistan in 2023.
