The Ministry of Energy reported that the problems observed in the country with gas and electricity are related to their supply.

It is reported that against the backdrop of a cold snap in the republic, 10% of the daily consumption of natural gas and 8% of electricity is provided by imports.

On January 12, due to abnormal cold in the neighboring country, an accident occurred at the natural gas fields, due to which the import of natural gas was completely stopped, and the import of electricity was reduced by 20%.

It is noted that in the context of a shortage of energy resources, the export of electricity was suspended. In addition, the volume of energy supplies to large industrial enterprises decreased by an average of 70-80%.

Despite the measures taken, electricity consumption in the republic has reached a record high level – 250 million kWh. Compared to production, the daily demand for natural gas also remains high.

For comparison: on December 31, 2022, no restrictions were introduced in the country, and daily electricity consumption was 220 million kWh.

On January 13, in Tashkent, electricity consumption amounted to 32 million kW/h, and therefore, for various reasons (emergencies and restrictions), electricity was not supplied to consumers during peak hours.

Thermal power plants burn 3 times more reserve fuel oil compared to the planned volumes. Hydroelectric power plants also produce 170% more due to the increase in the water level at the Charvak reservoir.

The Ministry of Energy urged to save electricity, not to use more than one electric heater in apartments, to transfer employees of enterprises and organizations to a temporary online mode of operation, to turn off excessive street lighting, advertising screens and illumination.
