Kun.uz conducted an interview with the founder of Minerva City complex Murari Lal Jalan, who accused the Tashkent mayor of extortion and hampering the progress of his projects.

According to him, in March 2021, the mayor called the businessman and treated him rudely.

“I was left with two choices: either to abandon one of my projects, for example, “Lake City”, or to deposit $100 million in the bank. I explained to the mayor that no one should make new demands as the agreement had already been signed, and as an entrepreneur, it is difficult for me to allocate the money that should be spent in 7 years in advance for someone’s needs,” he said.

The capital’s administration reacted to the statement of the Indian businessman and considered his words discrediting a civil servant.

“We will appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office asking them to investigate the grounds for Murari Lal Jalan’s accusations and take legal measures against whatever side is responsible,” the city administration said in a statement.

In 2020, MJ Developers announced the construction of Minerva City in the Yangihayot district of Tashkent, a residential complex with an area of 100 hectares.

However, later the construction of the complex was stopped. 202 people who bought apartments in this residential complex recorded a video message to the president complaining that the money for their apartments was never returned to them.
