On November 29, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furqat Siddikov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.
At the meeting, the current situation and development prospects of Uzbek-American strategic partnership relations were reviewed, and the willingness of the parties to continue active and constructive political dialogue was noted.
“Planned events, including the organizational and substantive aspects related to the next meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue between Uzbekistan and the USA, were discussed. Proposals on strengthening trade, investment, innovation, agriculture, energy and other spheres of relations were considered,” the MFA said in a statement.
At the meeting, which was also attended by Mikaela Meredith, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) mission director in Uzbekistan, the ambassador stated that the US administration will continue to provide financial-technical assistance to Uzbekistan and help in the fight against the pandemic.
They also exchanged views on issues of regional cooperation and the situation in Afghanistan.
On the same day, another meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. Deputy FM Bakhrom Aloyev received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Uzbekistan Mykola Doroshenko.
According to the MFA press service, the current issues of Uzbekistan-Ukraine cooperation in various fields were discussed at the meeting. Opinions were exchanged on the prospects of expanding trade-economic relations, granting mutual benefits and preferences to business entities of the two countries.
Earlier, the MFA held meetings with the ambassadors of Russia, France, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
