Illegal gambling advertised at the match of Uzbekistan’s national team

This is a behavior that is contrary to the current legislation of Uzbekistan and may even lead to administrative and criminal liability.

In particular, according to Article 46 of the Law “On advertising”, advertising of gambling and other games based on risk, organized using telecommunication networks and the Internet, is prohibited on the territory of Uzbekistan.

Also, according to the decision No. 176 of the Cabinet of Ministers “On measures to further regulate the organization and conduct of gambling games”, it is prohibited to organize and conduct gambling games and other games based on risk (including bookmaking and totalizers) in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to Article 191 of the Administrative Responsibility Code, organizing, providing services for gambling and other risk-based games in the territory of Uzbekistan, or distributing them, shall result in a fine of 5 to 15 BCAs.

Similar actions are the cause of criminal liability according to Article 278 of the Criminal Code, and are punished by a fine in the amount of 50 to 75 BCAs, or 300 to 360 hours of compulsory community service, or up to 3 years of correctional work.

In addition, according to the draft law recently developed by the Ministry of Justice, responsibility for illegal activities related to the organization, holding and participation in gambling and other games based on risk is envisaged.

Speaking to Kun.uz, an employee of the UFA press service said that the marketing department dealt with the advertisements and informed that a separate comment would be made.

The Agency for Protecting Consumer Rights stated that it is working on studying the situation and taking measures.

“It should be noted that there are critical posts on the pages of a number of social networks about the advertisement of FONBET bookmaking services in this game broadcast.

It is reported that the agency is conducting the study of the above situation in accordance with the established procedure and taking measures in accordance with the law,” the agency’s statement said.
