Uzbekistan among countries with ‘very low level of English language proficiency’
The country overtook Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, but still ranked 89th, falling into the group with a very low level of English language proficiency.

Uzbekistan took 89th place out of 111 in the ranking of countries in terms of English language proficiency, compiled by the international educational center Education First.
The EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI) measures the level of English proficiency among adults and ranks countries in this indicator. It is based on testing 2.1 million people in 100 countries and regions.
All countries are divided into 5 categories according to the level of language proficiency. Uzbekistan entered the category of countries with a very low level, gaining 446 points. At the same time, among the countries of Central Asia, Uzbekistan showed the best result: Kyrgyzstan took 91st place (442 points), Kazakhstan - 99th (420 points), Tajikistan - 106th (397 points).
In terms of capitals, Tashkent fell into the group with a very low level, while residents of Astana and Bishkek showed higher results, falling into the group with a low level of foreign language proficiency.
The Netherlands leads the ranking with 661 points, followed by Singapore (642 points) and Austria (628 points).
