The committee on judicial and legal issues and combating corruption held a meeting ahead of the upcoming plenary session of the Senate.
The meeting discussed the law "On introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan".
The committee noted that today the inter-district administrative courts are considering cases on petitions from the internal affairs bodies for the placement of persons without fixed abode in a rehabilitation center. Over the past three years, the courts of the republic have considered 8-9 thousand cases of this kind.
During the discussion, the senators emphasized that the placement in a rehabilitation center of a person who currently does not have a fixed place of residence creates difficulties for the internal affairs bodies that deal with this category of cases.
“By introducing appropriate additions and amendments to the Codes on Administrative Responsibility and Administrative Court Procedure, powers related to the placement of a person without a fixed abode in a rehabilitation center are transferred from inter-district administrative courts to district and city courts for criminal cases.
The senators said that the adoption of the law would increase the effectiveness of the activities of internal affairs bodies in detaining and rehabilitating persons without fixed abode, as well as put an end to the unnecessary troubles of citizens and serve to save material resources.
