Uzbekistan is not yet thinking about resuming the work of the Russian payment system Mir, the Board Chairman of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmuratov said at the II International Economic Forum in Samarkand.
According to him, servicing Mir cards is a big risk for commercial banks in Uzbekistan.
Mamarizo Nurmuratov also said that the banks of Uzbekistan and Russia now carry out about 60% of mutual settlements in the national currencies of their countries, the Uzbek side is ready to intensify this process.
“According to the latest data, we are doing very well and 57% of mutual settlements are already carried out in rubles and soums in terms of import-export,” Nurmuratov said, answering journalists’ questions about the dynamics of settlements in national currencies.
Uzbekistan suspended servicing Russian Mir cards on September 23.
