From November 1, UzAuto Motors started issuing a contract for the Chevrolet Onix car.
At the moment, customers can order the following options of the Chevrolet Onix car:
• 1.2 MT simplified assembly* – 126,500,000 soums;
• 1LS 1.2 MT option – 152,996,000 soums;
• 1LT 1.2 MT option – 159,160,000 soums;
• 3LT 1.2 MT option – 163,254,000 soums;
• LTZ 1.2 Turbo AT option – 189,957,000 soums.
Prices are inclusive of value added tax.
The cheapest option (126.5 million soums) is listed, but not for sale.
“As prospective buyers apply, if enough applications are collected (it is not clear how many applications are meant), then the company will consider whether or not to produce the position. So, most likely, one cannot hope for such a cheap option,” lawyer Khushnudbek Khudoyberdiyev wrote.
It is worth noting that UzAuto Motors has announced the price of Chevrolet Onix without VAT on its official page. This may be an attempt to make the cars look relatively cheap.
From January 1, 2023, the value added tax rate will be reduced from the current 15 percent to 12 percent. So, starting from next year, the price of Chevrolet Onix should be reduced by 3% and should be sold as follows:
• 1LS 1.2 MT option – 149,004,000 soums;
• 1LT 1.2 MT option – 155,008,000 soums;
• 3LT 1.2 MT option – 158,995,000 soums;
• LTZ 1.2 Turbo AT option – 185,001,000 soums.
Endless queues
After the start of sale of Chevrolet Onix, there were queues to get a contract at car showrooms.
More than 13,566 contracts were signed in almost 5 hours, of which 55% were for Onix LTZ Turbo AT.
It is noted that 7,380 buyers signed contracts for the purchase of two or more cars, which is more than 45% of the total number of consumers.
“In the event that contracts concluded with the possibility of resale of cars are detected, the company will extend the delivery period of the car by an additional 120 days in accordance with the terms of the contract (in accordance with clause 3.1.2). In this regard, we request the buyers to fully familiarize themselves with all clauses of the contract before signing it,” the company said.
Also, up to 60% of the contracts were not paid on time. This can lead to a significant decrease in the number of contracts after 7 days and a reduction in the delivery time of the car.
UzAuto Motors cheated again
In the spring of last year, Rustam Rajabov, who was acting director of UzAuto Motors at that time, announced that the price of Onix will be in the range of 9-12 thousand dollars.
“The line that previously produced Matiz will be rebuilt in line with Onix, and the production of the new model will be localized at the end of the 4th quarter of 2022,” Rajabov said then at a meeting with journalists.
But Chevrolet Onix, the sales of which started on November 1, turned out to be much more expensive than the previously promised price.
According to Kun.uz correspondent based on the customers who have signed the contract, the first customers can start receiving cars from June next year.
With the start of production of Tracker and Onix, it was announced that production of Spark and Nexia will be discontinued at the end of this year. In this way, Cobalt, which is sold for 127 million soums or $11,300, only with an automatic transmission, will become the cheapest sedan of Uzavto.
Although the Kun.uz correspondent asked a number of questions to buyers at the car showroom, no one wanted to speak:
1) Onix was said to be at Spark price, published prices show otherwise. Do you like the price of Onix? Is it worth the money paid?
2) Are you willing to pay the money in advance and get the car after 1 year?
3) The GM monopoly is constantly criticized on social media. But in car showrooms, there is endless queue for Onix. Queues for cars of other brands are also long. What do you think is the reason for this?
4) Are you aware of all the information about the new model? For example, it was said that while Onix cannot be equipped with CNG, Turbo models run only on the most expensive gasoline. Do you study these and then pay or buy at your own risk?
5) How long do you intend to drive the car after purchase? Or do you immediately resell it?
6) 12,000 contracts were signed in 4 hours. What was your turn?
There are many questions, but no one wants to answer.
