At Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, customs officers prevented the smuggling of foreign currency on a large scale, the Federal Customs Service of Russia reported.
The Russian, contrary to the established temporary ban on the export of foreign currency, was going to bring $47,000 into Tashkent, but was stopped on the "green" corridor by customs inspectors.
In the course of an oral questioning, the man was confused in his testimony and tried to underestimate the amount he had with him. According to him, he was carrying $6,000 and 2,000 rubles, but presented the inspectors with nearly $11,000 and 13,000 rubles.
During the subsequent inspection, customs officers found another $20,000 in his backpack and laptop bag, as well as more than €16,000 and 4,000 rubles in his suitcase.
In the man’s actions, there are signs of a crime under Part 1 of Article 200.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Smuggling of cash on a large scale). Verification activities are underway.
