New TPP with a capacity of 220 MW being prepared for launch in Syrdarya region

A new power plant is ready for operation in the Syrdarya region, Spot reports with reference to the press service of the Energy Ministry.

A gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 220 MW was built by the Turkish company Cengiz Enerji in the Khavast district. According to the ministry, construction and installation of equipment have already been completed at the facility.

Adjustment and commissioning works are currently underway, as well as preparations for connecting the power plant to the general power grid. On October 9, the launch tests of the first gas-piston apparatus of the power plant were carried out.

The TPP will start supplying energy to the power grid approximately from October 25. It can produce 1.7 billion kWh per year.

The construction of the power plant in the Khavast district began in the spring. Its construction was symbolically launched on March 29 by Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his visit to Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the heads of the two countries launched a thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW near Kibray in the Tashkent region, which was also built by Cengiz Enerji. Prior to this, Turkish investors launched another new power plant in Tashkent, Khorezm and Bukhara regions.

In total, by the end of 2022, it is planned to launch 7 power plants – 6 thermal and 1 solar. The TPP in the Khavast district will be the last project for this year.
