According to the press service of the head of state, this year, the cotton is grown in 75 thousand hectares in the region. These days, almost 80 thousand hectares are planted with grain crops. Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined the fields of farms “Arlon bobo” and “Omonboy ugli Tugal” in the Syrdarya district.

There are 90 hectares of land at the disposal of the “Arslon bobo” farm, this year 80 quintal of grain were collected from each hectare. Cotton picking is in full swing. In addition, potatoes, mung been, carrots, onions and other repeated crops are grown and delivered to the market. The farm “Omonboy ugli Tugal” cultivates agricultural products on 62 hectares of land. 

In these farms, located in the neighborhood, thanks to laser leveling of lands, 30-40 percent of water are saved, and the cost of irrigation was reduced. Pumps are powered by solar panels. Within the framework of the nationwide project “Yashil makon”, a mulberry, willow and other trees were planted around the perimeter of the fields. 

Here, the President talked with farmers of the Syrdarya district and representatives of the older generation.

“I came here to see you, wish you success in work. If we evaluate fairly, then we can say that changes occur in Syrdarya. But time flies so rapidly that the needs of people are ahead of transformations. To create appropriate conditions, fulfill people’s requests, it is necessary to develop new plans. Today I came not only to say thanks to dear residents of the Syrdarya, but also to indicate the necessary areas of work for further development of the districts, to increase the well-being of people,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Farmers noted the expanded opportunities in agriculture, which became more profitable to engage in, eradicating forced labor, spoke about additional types of products.

“Earth is a source of the welfare of our people. Today we allocated 80 thousand hectares of cotton and grain fields to the population, and we will allocate more. After all, the products grown on them will also serve our people: it will go to the market, bring income to families. Today, leaders of the republican level and khokims suggested: if we allocate another 7.5 thousand hectares, then we can completely eliminate unemployment in the Syrdarya region. I completely support this,” the President said.

In the country, priority attention is paid to those crops that bring more income. This approach gives good results in agriculture. The head of state emphasized the need to increase productivity through the use of innovations and the best varieties, rational use and maintenance of water. An instruction was given to improve the living conditions of farmers and workers, in particular the construction of small affordable houses for them.
