Uzbekistan allocated 1.9 trillion soums from the state budget for environmental protection over 6 months
On September 5, the implementation of the state budget for the first half of 2022 was discussed at the meeting of the faction of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the press service of the Lower Chamber reported.

It is noted that during the reporting period, environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, elimination of environmental problems, provision of clean drinking water to settlements and improvement of sewage system were made from the state budget. For this purpose, a total of 1 trillion 942 billion soums have been allocated from the state budget for ecology and environmental protection activities in the first half of 2022.
Funds were spent on atmospheric air protection, water and land resources protection, flora and fauna protection, ecological measures implemented in the Aral Sea region, land protection from water and wind erosion, and land recultivation.
Also, during the considered period, 1 trillion 131 billion soums were financed for 173 objects for the implementation of programs of providing clean drinking water to the settlements of the republic and improving the wastewater systems.
Within the framework of the projects implemented under the “Obod qishloq” and “Obod mahalla” programs, 3 trillion soums were allocated for 4,550 objects, including 2 trillion soums for 4,179 internal roads, 1 trillion soums for the construction and repair of 371 drinking water networks and facilities. Following the end of the first half of the year, 1 trillion 112 billion soums were financed based on the volume of construction and repair works for 3,557 objects.
At the meeting, deputies objected to the fact that the state budget funds are not always efficiently and timely implemented by the responsible ministries and agencies, and the allocated funds are not being used, the report said.
Based on this, it was said that it is necessary to observe the budget discipline, to regularly carry out control over the purposeful spending of the state budget funds.
At the end of the meeting, the report on implementation of the state budget and the budgets of state special funds in the first half of 2022 was approved.
