Ministry of Energy admits that they were forced to disconnect consumers from electricity due to heat

Reportedly, power lines located mainly in the open sun these days heat up to temperatures that are not provided for their operation. In addition to too high temperature values, especially during the daytime, the critical state of power lines is affected by an extraordinary increase in electricity consumption.

In such a state, at any time, overheating of power lines and a surge in consumption growth can lead to accidents of such magnitude that it may take a significant amount of time (a day or more) to normalize the network.

To avoid the possibility of large-scale network problems, dispatch services create conditions for unloading power lines. In particular, with certain indicators close to critical, it is necessary to resort to a temporary disconnection from the power supply of certain residential areas and industrial facilities.

When the indicators are normalized, even relative, the dispatching service immediately connects these objects to the power supply.

“Normalization of a stable power supply, of course, will be facilitated by an improvement in the situation with abnormally high temperatures. In this regard, it is important for consumers to understand the need for such measures that will prevent large-scale accidents in the network from occurring, requiring a much longer correction of the situation,” the Ministry of Energy concluded.
