According to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the sides noted the positive trends in the development of bilateral trade. In 2021, the volume of trade between the two countries will increase by 65%, and the volume of exports from Uzbekistan to the UK will increase 2.5 times.
It was agreed to organize trainings and workshops on attracting British investors to create export-oriented joint production facilities in Uzbekistan, effective use of the benefits of the GSP Enhanced Framework for Uzbek producers and exporters.
Expansion of investment cooperation was discussed. It was noted that the number of British companies operating in Uzbekistan has increased by 40% over the past few years. Prospects for cooperation in attracting new British companies to implement projects in the field of agricultural processing, animal husbandry, biopharmaceuticals, textiles, information and communication technologies and “green” energy were discussed.
The parties agreed to intensify preparations for the 26th Uzbek-British Council on Trade and Industry, which will be held in October this year in Tashkent. The event will strengthen ties between the business circles of the two countries, identify new “growth points” of the economic partnership and attract British investment and technology to promising sectors of the Uzbek economy.
