On Monday, UNICEF handed over computers to the Ministry of Health to strengthen the national immunization system of Uzbekistan and the healthcare system as a whole, the press service of the organization’s representative office in Uzbekistan reports.
The 2,150 computers will expand Uzbekistan’s ability to implement effective vaccine and immunization management, as well as improve a functional health management information system available to primary healthcare facilities.
A total of $1.5 million worth of equipment, supported by the Global Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), will be distributed to immunization sites and other health facilities across the country.
“Thanks to Gavi’s support, we have the opportunity to increase efficiency, track cases of vaccine avoidance, identify trends in real time, and ultimately identify gaps and opportunities in the provision of medical services,” Munir Mammadzade, UNICEF Country Manager for Uzbekistan, said.
