Karakalpakstan will receive four containers of humanitarian cargo from the United States with medical supplies in June. The transfer and delivery of goods will be carried out by the US-based charity Project C.U.R.E. with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington.
The total weight of the humanitarian cargo will be 16.8 tons. It contains 2.9 thousand packages of medical goods, including devices and equipment for ultrasound, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, X-ray scanners, intensive care incubators for newborns, defibrillators, laboratory devices, oxygen cylinders, wheelchairs for transporting patients and others.
As part of the agreements previously reached with the President of Project C.U.R.E. Douglas Jackson on the delivery of medical equipment and health care items in the amount of $3 million, a list of 24 medical institutions in the Aral Sea zone that have the most urgent needs for medical equipment has been compiled.
It is noted that all four containers were sent from the US to Europe by sea and all of them are on the way. They will be delivered to Georgia, from where the transportation will be carried out by land transport to the city of Nukus.
It should be recalled that in May 2021, the medical institutions of Karakalpakstan received the first two containers of Project C.U.R.E. humanitarian aid, which included essential medical supplies to equip emergency centers.
The NGO Project C.U.R.E., founded in 1987, assists developing countries in overcoming the lack of modern medical equipment and devices. Currently, its activities cover 135 countries of the world.
