State to partially cover childbirth benefits from September 1
In Uzbekistan, the state will partially cover “maternity” expenses, the President announced this during a videoconference meeting.
Reportedly, from September 1 this year, women will receive guaranteed benefits for pregnancy and childbirth.
“For example, the proportion of women in the informal sector is 57%. This is due to the fact that many employers try not to formally hire women and draw up documents for them so as not to spend extra money on paying maternity benefits. In this regard, from September 2022, the procedure for paying part of the benefits will be introduced,” the report reads.
To implement the task, the Social Insurance Fund will be created, 170 billion soums will be allocated from the budget.
