On April 26, chaired by the Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, a meeting was held on the protection of the rights of women and children, as well as further strengthening of responsibility for committing indecent acts against minors, the Senate press service reported.
As noted at the event, despite the ongoing work on the ground to eradicate such negative phenomena, cases of violence and harassment against women and minors still continue to occur.
In this regard, a working group has been created in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis to protect the rights of women and further strengthen the responsibility for committing obscene acts against minors.
The duties of the working group include analysis of law enforcement practice and inventory of existing legal acts, in-depth study of international experience and development of proposals for improving the legal framework in the field of protecting the rights of women and children, which will subsequently be considered by the countryās parliament.
In addition, an action plan was approved, which includes specific and targeted measures to improve work in this direction. Non-governmental organizations and independent experts already engaged in core activities will be involved in its implementation.
The Senate called on representatives of NGOs, civil society institutions, scientists and specialists to actively participate in the activities of the established working group (senat14@exat.uz, qonunchilik@senat.go.uz).
