Uzbekistan, Pakistan discuss implementation of Transit Trade Agreement in Islamabad

The agency is a subdivision of the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan. He deals with the development and promotion of exports, coordinates between the public and private sectors, advises the government on trade diplomacy and the promotion of Pakistani goods and services around the world. Ahsan Ali Mangi noted the importance of the entry into force and practical implementation of the Transit Trade Agreement, as well as the speedy completion of domestic procedures under the Preferential Trade Agreement in order to fulfill the tasks set by the leadership of the two countries to increase the volume of mutual trade.

He stated that in terms of their structure, the economies of Uzbekistan and Pakistan are not competing, but complementary. This creates additional opportunities for diversifying bilateral trade, expanding the range of goods and services, as well as implementing joint projects for the production of value-added products for export to third countries.

The TDAP representative stressed that the Pakistani side, as part of the implementation of the agreement between the leaders of the two countries in Islamabad, plans to hold an exhibition of Pakistani manufacturers in Tashkent in November.

According to him, the simplification of customs procedures and the adoption of the necessary measures to reduce container transportation tariffs are the most pressing issues on the bilateral agenda.

During the meeting, representatives of the embassy also provided detailed information on the ongoing policy in our country to eradicate child and forced labor, modernize agriculture and introduce modern methods of labor relations into the industry, as a result of which the Cotton Compaign Coalition canceled the call to boycott Uzbek cotton.

The Pakistani side emphasized that this decision opens up wide opportunities for foreign, including Pakistani partners of Uzbekistan, to implement new investment projects, increases the interest of international brands in the country’s textile industry and serves to promote the products of Uzbek manufacturers.
