Uzbekistan, Japan discuss issues of cooperation in field of trade

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhodja Abdurakhmonov held talks with the State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Ishii Masahiro, Dunyo correspondent reports.

During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation and the results achieved over the 30-year period since the establishment of diplomatic relations were discussed. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the comprehensive support provided by the Government of Japan to strengthen bilateral ties, finance structural reforms in the country, as well as implement major investment projects.

State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ishii Masahiro noted that Uzbekistan is an important partner of his country in the Central Asian region and the Government of Japan is aimed at continuing the development of bilateral ties in the economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation and implementing new projects on the introduction of efficient technologies in the modernization of water treatment and sewerage facilities were discussed with JICA, the second phase of the project to develop the value chain in the horticulture sector.

Also, the parties discussed issues of the ministry’s assistance in attracting direct Japanese investment in the implementation of projects based on public-private partnerships in the pharmaceutical, textile and electrical industries.

The Japanese side assured that it would provide all necessary support for the practical implementation of the discussed issues and expressed support for the continuation of bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two countries.
