The Ministry of Health has announced the launch of a nationwide “Health Days” campaign.

“There are many people among our compatriots who suffer from serious illnesses and cannot find treatment. There are those who are reluctant to come to the capital for some complex operations at the national level. In addition, there are those who have received a referral for preferential treatment in specialized medical centers, but are waiting for their turn.

Of course, it is not possible to bring to Tashkent people who are bedridden due to illness. In addition, their relatives should stay at the hospital and be constantly aware of their condition. Rehabilitation processes require similar attention and care.

At the initiative of the Health Ministry, a social campaign “Health Days” was announced across the country to find solutions to such problems.

Leading physicians visit patients

As part of the campaign, first of all, with the help of local medical staff, door-to-door surveys are being conducted, and the list of patients in need of high-tech operations is being formed in districts.

In particular, groups of qualified doctors and candidates of medical sciences from the Republican specialized scientific-practical medical centers in about ten areas, such as pediatric urology, plastic and maxillofacial surgery, abdominal and interventional surgery, cardiac surgery, visited patients living in the Jizzakh region.

“This “Health Days” is different from our previous campaigns. For example, for the first time in our country, at the expense of the State Health Insurance Fund, all the necessary funds for patients’ operations were provided in advance. This allowed for thorough preparation for the procedures in advance.

Importantly, all surgeries are performed successfully. Even some operations were carried out for the first time in the region. That’s why these high-tech treatments are also becoming master classes for local doctors. In the future, “Health Days” will be held in all regions on a rotating basis,” Umidulla Riskiyev, head of the Main Department for Organizing Preventive Care under the Health Ministry, said.

“I felt as if my child was reborn”

The family in Zaamin was unable to bring their sick child to Tashkent due to financial issues.

“My son was born with a congenital lip defect and has been suffering from this disease for 16 years. We had surgery several times. But we did not notice the expected change. We did not have the opportunity to consult with qualified doctors in the capital.

That’s why I was overjoyed when they called from the district medical association and told us that they would operate on our child for free. We immediately reached the Regional Multidisciplinary Children’s Medical Center. Qualified surgeons from the Children’s National Medical Center in the capital were here.

The operation was successful. My son is fine now. Doctors say that now the congenital defect in his upper lip and palate area has been completely eliminated and the functions of his face and jaw have been fully restored. I felt as if my child was reborn,” Nurali Esonbayev from Zaamin said.

A similar operation was successfully performed on Gullola Akilova, a 6-month-old baby living in Jizzakh. In addition, specialists in ophthalmology and pediatric urology from the National Children's Medical Center of the Republic also perform high-tech surgeries on young patients.

“I was operated on for free”

Patients who have been fighting the disease for years and seeking treatment for their ailments are recovering from the illness in a matter of hours. Zaynab Soatova, a 73-year-old resident of Jizzakh, is one of them.

“I had a heart attack four years ago. After that, my condition did not fully improve. I used to have severe pain in my chest. I had to take medication regularly. The doctors told me that I needed surgery to treat my condition. But we did not have the financial means to do so.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Health, we found out that free surgeries are being performed on needy patients like us. The doctors put a stand on my heart. I feel good now. A day or two later they will discharge me.

I’m glad that I got rid of the pain. I had been saving for my surgery for four years, collecting my pensions. It was like an unexpected miracle. I had no idea that doctors from Tashkent would operate on me in my hometown for free. We really feel the care of our state...” the woman said.
