The new terminal looks unusual – it is constructed in the form of an open book, symbolizing Mirzo Ulugbek’s main work “Ziji jadidi Kuragoni” (New Kuragoni star table).
The terminal will serve up to 800 passengers per hour. It is currently undergoing finishing work.
Almost $83 million was spent on the reconstruction of the Samarkand airport. In 2021, a newly built runway was put into operation.
