On February 2, a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was held on the current tasks of improving the waste management system and the environmental situation, the implementation of the nationwide project “Green Space”.
In November 2021, the nationwide “Green Space” project was announced and it was planned to plant 200 million saplings. According to the presidential press service, 85 million saplings were planted in the fall within the framework of the project. Many organizations, mahallas and the general public have been active in this noble act. It is planned to plant 125 million tree seedlings this spring.
The nationwide “Green Space” project is not a 1-year event. Under it, we aim to plant 1 billion saplings over the next 5 years. The results of this nationwide movement should be seen in every mahalla, and this good work should be done with enthusiasm,” the President said.

From March 1, the nationwide event “Green Year” will be commenced. It was noted that it is necessary to select seedlings that are suitable for the climate of each region, require less water, and increase the number of nurseries to grow them. The State Committee for Forestry has been instructed to distribute 10 million seedlings of fruit and ornamental trees free of charge to the population, and the Committee for Automobile Roads has been instructed to establish protective trees along roads of international and national importance.

Authorities have been instructed to launch “mobile eco patrols” covering all districts and cities.
