It should be recalled that on April 27, 2020, strong winds blowing in Uzbekistan from Turkmenistan reached 9-40 meters per second in Bukhara, Navoi, Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions. As a result, 41 people were injured and 1 died.
It also damaged homes, vehicles, infrastructure and crops. At that time, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Bukhara to assess the consequences of the disaster, to take the necessary measures and to communicate directly with the population. The total damage caused by strong winds in Bukhara region amounted to 141.6 billion soums.
In addition, on May 1, 2020, part of the Sardoba dam reservoir collapsed, flooding neighborhoods and fields in neighboring districts. Even then, the President immediately rushed to the scene and personally stepped in to stabilize the situation.
