Working-age population of Uzbekistan announced
The State Statistics Committee has provided data on the working-age population of Uzbekistan as of January 1, 2022.
According to the committee, 57.6% of the population in the country are considered economically active, 31.2% - are children under working age and 11.2% - are elderly people.
The working-age population is the total population in an area that is considered able and likely to work based on the number of people in a predetermined age range. The working-age population measure is used to give an estimate of the total number of potential workers within an economy. This measurement does not distinguish between those who are gainfully employed and those who are seeking employment within the range.
OECD defines people aged 15-64 as able-bodied, which means they are of working age.
