Ministry of Energy announces a tender for construction of new power plant in Kashkadarya

The Ministry of Energy has opened a tender for the construction of a new photo power plant in the Kashkadarya region, Spot reports referring to the press service of the Energy Ministry.

The new power plant will be located in the Guzar district of Kashkadarya, and its capacity will be 300 MW.

The winner will design and finance the construction of a solar power plant and will operate and maintain it for the next 25 years. In addition, he undertakes to build a power line to the Guzar substation.

Independent investors-developers are involved in the tender. The project will be implemented on the basis of a public-private partnership.

The tender was the second within the framework of the program for the construction of 1 GW solar power plants, implemented jointly by Uzbekistan and ADB. Prior to that, they organized a tender for the construction of the “Sherabad” solar photovoltaic station in Surkhandarya.

The country’s first private solar power plant was launched at the end of August 2021 in the Navoi region. It was built by Masdar from the UAE. Work is now underway on several more similar objects.

Earlier it was reported that ACWA Power signed a contract for the construction of a wind farm in Karakalpakstan for $108 million.
