According to the parliamentary press service, in 2021, 2,000 women from families with difficult social conditions were enrolled in higher educational institutions at the expense of the state budget. Compared to 2020, this year their number has increased by 1,000.
“This work is aimed at ensuring that girls receive higher education, find their place in society, and receive a good education and upbringing for their children. At the same time, such noble goals as attracting our women not only to the sewing, culinary and service sectors, but also in the industry where information and communication technologies are widely used, ensuring their more active participation in political processes have been envisaged,” the report reads.
In this regard, the Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva made critical remarks. In particular, she noted that there is still a lot of work to be done in this direction, there are enough problems that worry women in family and household life.
“We have adopted a lot of laws, but how are these laws being implemented locally? The people, especially our women, are not yet fully satisfied with our work. They note that the laws do not work, their labor rights are violated in collectives, the benefits established by the Labor Code and other laws are not fully provided in private enterprises or in new enterprises created on the basis of public-private partnerships. Therefore, while the ongoing work to protect their rights and interests is insufficient, we still have a lot to do,” she said.
