The foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, including Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as well as other attending countries – China and Russia – have issued a joint statement emphasizing that the only solution to Afghanistan's problems is a comprehensive political structure involving all ethnic groups, Interfax reports with reference to the Iranian news agency IRNA.
The ministers stressed their support for national sovereignty, political independence, unity and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, as well as non-interference in its internal affairs.
They expressed their hope for a stable Afghanistan, its development, prosperity and harmonious relations with neighboring countries.
The ministers also expressed deep concern over the difficult political-military, socio-economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and noted that a comprehensive political structure with the participation of all ethnic groups is the only solution to the problems of Afghanistan.
The statement calls on all parties involved, including the Taliban, to continue political negotiations and consultations to improve the future of the nation. It was noted that the territory of Afghanistan should not pose any threat to neighboring countries and should not be used by criminal, terrorist and separatist groups.
