Today, October 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, official Kremlin reports.
“During the telephone conversation, Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his convincing victory in the presidential elections,” the statement said. Results, however, have not been officially announced yet.
The parties expressed mutual interest in the further development of bilateral relations.
The Russian President also sent a congratulatory telegram to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“Dear Shavkat Miromonovich, I sincerely congratulate you on your convincing victory in the presidential elections. The voting results fully confirmed your high political authority, as well as support for your course aimed at the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan and the protection of its interests in the international arena,” the text of the telegram says.
Putin stressed that Mirziyoyev makes a great personal contribution to strengthening the relations of strategic partnership and alliance between the countries.
“I am confident that by joint efforts we will continue to build up practical cooperation in various fields, constructively interact in addressing topical issues of the regional and global agenda. This, undoubtedly, meets the interests of the friendly peoples of Russia and Uzbekistan, goes in the mainstream of ensuring peace, stability and security in Central Asia. I sincerely wish you success in your government activities, as well as good health and prosperity,” Putin concluded.
