Currently, in many countries, the number of coronavirus patients is growing again. Some countries are taking harsh measures. The head of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, Chief Sanitary Doctor Bakhodir Yusupaliyev clarified whether a lockdown will be introduced in Uzbekistan.
Earlier the press service of the Health Ministry reported that on October 22, 372 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the republic. However, in many countries, the third, fourth and even fifth waves have begun. There has not yet been a sharp increase in the number of patients with coronavirus in Uzbekistan. At the same time, many fear that another wave will soon begin in Uzbekistan.
Today, on October 23, during a press conference, the head of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, Chief Sanitary Doctor Bakhodir Yusupaliyev clarified whether strict quarantine will be introduced in Uzbekistan.
“Today there can be no talk of a lockdown. In Russia, the number of patients is increasing, there is a possibility that statistical indicators will also increase in our country. However, measures have been stepped up at the border. You can get to Uzbekistan only by taking the medical test within the last 72 hours. If you haven’t taken the test, you can undergo an express one at the border itself,” he said.
Bakhodir Yusupaliyev stressed that it is important to form collective immunity.
“The formation of herd immunity will prevent the introduction of a lockdown. This requires mass vaccination. Then strict quarantine will not be a threat. Currently, out of 21 million people, 13 million have received the first component of the coronavirus vaccine,” the expert concluded.
