Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks with the US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
According to the MFA press service, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral relations.
During the talks, Kamilov briefed the US official about large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Wendy Sherman noted that the US supports the broad transformations taking place in Uzbekistan.
The sides discussed the current situation in the region and the development of events in Afghanistan. They noted the need to facilitate the process of broad national reconciliation and the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan, ensure the observance of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the country, and prevent a humanitarian crisis.
Particular attention was paid to the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation. The schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming joint events, in particular the first meeting of the strategic partnership dialogue, were considered.
