Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe

On September 16, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the SCO Summit.
He was met at the airport by the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda and other officials.
“Immediately upon arrival in Dushanbe, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Topical issues of further developing the Uzbek-Tajik multifaceted relations, as well as regional interaction were considered during the talks,” the presidential press service said.
The importance of continuing active contacts and exchanges for the practical implementation of cooperation projects in the sectors of the economy and the program of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in accordance with agreements at the highest level was emphasized.
The parties exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan.
“Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly appreciated the results of Tajikistan’s fruitful chairmanship in the SCO and wished successful holding of the upcoming summit events,” the statement concludes.
