“Uzbekistan is in close contact with representatives of the Taliban movement on ensuring peace in the border area” - MFA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on the situation in Afghanistan.
It is reported that Uzbekistan is closely observing the situation in Afghanistan.
“We support the statements of the internal Afghan forces that they are ready to form an inclusive government. We hope that the Afghans in Doha will achieve peace through negotiations, the transition of power in the country will be carried out peacefully on the basis of a common consensus, taking into account the generally accepted norms of international law,” the statement said.
It is noted that the development of the situation in this direction will lead to a national consensus and create the conditions for the formation of a strong and capable state.
The Uzbek side has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining friendly and good-neighborly relations with Afghanistan and non-interference in the internal affairs of the neighboring country.
“Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif are currently operating normally. The Uzbek side is in close contact with representatives of the Taliban movement on border protection and peacekeeping in the border area,” the statement said.
