Uzbekistan, Germany voice concern about possible escalation of the intra-Afghan armed conflict, pledge to co-op
On July 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting between the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, and the Representative of the German Foreign Ministry for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Matthias Lüttenberg.

The representative of Germany highly appreciated the results of the International Conference on Regional Connectivity in Tashkent, noting that the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to convene an international forum of such a high level was timely, and the agenda was very relevant.
An exchange of views took place on the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, issues of mutual assistance to the peace process in this country were considered.
The sides voiced concern about the escalation of the intra-Afghan armed conflict and spoke for the continuation of the efforts of the world community to support peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation on Afghanistan and solving problems associated with a possible influx of Afghan refugees and border incidents.
The important role of regional countries in continuing all-round economic and humanitarian support to the Afghan people, as well as efforts to establish lasting and comprehensive peace in Afghanistan, was noted.
