As Kun.uz correspondent reports, this became known today, June 19, during the extraordinary congress of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).
During the event, the chairman of the association, Abdusalom Azizov, announced the termination of the contract with the coaching staff headed by Vadim Abramov.
“Two years ago, the Uzbek national team lost to Palestine, then I was appointed head coach. I had to take the team to the next level. We have renewed the team line-up by 70%. Then Oman and Singapore won, but we lost to Saudi Arabia in Tashkent. We lost because the players don’t have much experience. Our opportunity to take first place has decreased. We were unable to qualify for the championship. I admit my guilt. We were unable to prepare the two center-backs and the goalkeeper at the proper level,” he said.
A new head coach of the national team will be appointed within a month. Both European and local candidates will be considered.
Earlier, midfielder, team captain Odil Akhmedov announced his retirement in the national team of Uzbekistan.
