Uzbekistan and Malaysia to cooperate in creation of digital free trade zone

Representatives of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and Fusionex held online negotiations in Kuala Lumpur, Dunyo information agency reports.

During the event, the Malaysian side made a presentation on the company's activities and expressed interest in implementing projects in Uzbekistan that contribute to the active development of digitalization of the economy, including creation of a digital free trade zone and ensuring the establishment of an active relationship with well-known global electronic trading platforms that are partners of the enterprise (Amazon, Alibaba, eBay, Lazada and Shopee).

It was noted that the development of digital infrastructure in Uzbekistan will contribute to a significant increase in the volume of exports of domestic products to foreign markets, as well as the use of the republic as a logistics hub for transporting international goods.

Following the negotiations, the sides decide to sign a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding to consider the possibility of implementing the above investment project between the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the Export Promotion Agency and Fusionex.

Fusionex is one of the leading software companies in Malaysia in the field of digital trading and service. The company took part in a number of major projects in Malaysia for the development of digital infrastructure, including the development of the country’s Digital Free Trade Zone together with the Foreign Trade Development Corporation. The company has experience with a number of major companies in the world, including IBM, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Cisco, Nintex and Telecom Malaysia.
