Nearly 190 million people in the country have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 already.

The World Health Organization had reported that the “Indian” strain of coronavirus is highly contagious and extremely dangerous due to its resistance to antibodies.

In order to prevent the entry of the “Indian” strain into Uzbekistan, from May 10, temporary restrictions were imposed on flights to/from India.

In accordance with the proposal of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, all persons entering Uzbekistan from India are undergoing PCR testing for coronavirus infection at the expense of the state budget.

In India, the situation with infection remains dire. Kun.uz correspondent contacted Muhammadjon Bozorov, the press secretary of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, regarding the measures taken against passengers entering Uzbekistan from India. According to him, air communication with the country has been suspended. If charter flights are launched, a PCR test for coronavirus infection will be taken from passengers at the airport reception hall and they will be quarantined for 14 days at home or in a hotel as per the prescribed manner.

“If a passenger has been in India for the last 14 days and enters our country, he must have a PCR test certificate with a negative result. However, upon entering the country, the passenger will take a free antigen test, and will have to go through a 14-day quarantine period in his home if he is a citizen of Uzbekistan, and in a hotel, if he is a citizen of another country,” he said.

The press service of the Ministry of Health told Kun.uz that no cases of “Indian” strain of coronavirus have been reported in Uzbekistan so far.
